Sony's PlayStation 4 Puts Microsoft's Xbox One to Shame

With the critical holiday season fading into the rear view mirror, the global battle for console dominance between Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One are changing gears.

Sony's PlayStation 4 won the first round, beating Microsoft's Xbox One last year. If if recent data is any indication, little has changed as we head further into 2014.

PlayStation 4's promising numbers
Recently, Sony went on the PR offensive, claiming that its PS4 has actually increased its dominance in the global video game market.

Stopping short of singling out Microsoft's Xbox One, Sony disclosed that the PS4 has outsold all other next-gen consoles in the U.S. by a factor of 2-to-1 in the United States in January.

Part of the sales surge appears to be that Sony's PlayStation 4 had been apparently suffering some rather serious supply constraint. However, Sony's PlayStation 4 also enjoys other noteworthy advantages over Microsoft's Xbox One, including slightly better graphics and a purchase price $100 lower then the Xbox One. So what does this mean for investors interested in both Microsoft or Sony?

In the following video, tech and telecom analyst Andrew Tonner discusses how this recent news doesn't bode well for Microsoft's gaming device in the months ahead.

Investing in tech's most important trend to come
Every investor wants to get in on revolutionary ideas before they hit it big -- like buying PC maker Dell in the late 1980s, before the consumer computing boom, or purchasing stock in e-commerce pioneer Amazon.com in the late 1990s, when it was nothing more than an upstart online bookstore. The problem is, most investors don't understand the key to investing in hypergrowth markets. The real trick is to find a small-cap "pure play" and then watch as it grows in explosive fashion within its industry. Our expert team of equity analysts has identified one stock that's poised to produce rocket-ship returns with the next $14.4 trillion industry.
